Weekend

Dear Russians,

Thank you for reading my blog. Friday was lazy, since I had to do some laundry. Saturday, I woke up early and drove with boyfriend out for a cross country meet. It was kind of weird hearing kids call my boyfriend "Coach." It was as if they were talking to someone else. My dad warned me I would be bored at this thing, but I actually had a lot of fun. I got to hang out and see boyfriend do his coach thing, and he's doing an awesome job. I'm so proud! One of his kids won second place, and the other kids did awesome. Even if some of them were far from first, there was no crying, no yelling "I can't do this," and none of them were in last place so that's good! I'm excited to see how they do next weekend. I went home, took a nap, dropped my parents off at the airport (they are currently crusing in the Northern Atlantic), and got ready for some college football. Well we lost, and it sucked. We didn't look good at all, and I'm doubt that we'll be winning a lot this season. Oh well I still love my Sooners. Sunday, we went to church, then went to the outlets to do some shopping. Got a few things from J. Crew and Francesca's and boyfriend got a sweater from J.Crew. We then went to Chili's to watch the Texans win, and on top of that got our meal for free because we saw a roach crawl across the bar. So at least our meal was free. Then I went home and watched the Emmys. Maybe I should start watching Modern Family? Hmm

Tv Show Reviews...well most of them

So my tv shows are beginning their new seasons, which I am very excited for. I watched a few and here is what I think: if you care...

True Blood: Yes I know this started in June, but I finally caught up and was seriously disappointed. There was too much stuff going on to keep up, and all of the subject topics were too weird, even for True Blood. I was not impressed, which stinks because I absolutely love the Charlaine Harris novels, and the other True Blood seasons. There's just too much going on.

Up All Night: Speaking of I cannot tell you how sad I was when I heard that Amy Poehler and Will Arnett were separated. (Well I hate to see any marriage fail, unless there was abuse of some sort, oh and cheating) I think that was one of my favorite Hollywood couples. But Up All Night is still cute and adorable, and the little baby has gotten so big!

The Office: I was disappointed in the season premiere. Not really funny, except for when Dwight was hanging off his bike in the air.

Parks and Recreation: Happy to see that this show is still awesome and hilarious. I freaking love Ron Swanson!

Glee: Although I was disappointed in the last two seasons, I actually really liked the first two episodes of this season. I'm glad to see it's not all top 40, and we all need a little Billy Joel in our lives.

And can I tell you how jealous I am of the Brits? They get to sit down in their living rooms and watch Downton Abbey while we Americans have to wait until January. Not fair! I tried to watch from a file sharing site, but it kept buffering and stuttering that I had to give up. I need some Downton in my life!

Still waiting on a few shows like, "How I Met Your Mother," "New Girl," "Once Upon a Time," and "Gossip Girl." Thank God for On Demand and DVR.

Fort Worth Opera Gala

Dear Russians,

First, I apologize for sucking with keeping you up with my life. Second I will catch you up with my life.

So last weekend I drove to the DFW area for the Fort Worth Opera Gala. It's this ritzy dinner/dancing/dress up/drinking affair where you also spend all of your money on auctions in order to support the opera. So clearly this whole thing is right up my alley. I drove to Dallas after work and immediately it starts to monsoon during rush hour, so needless to say it took me a really long time to get out of Houston. I drove a few hours and stopped at this wonderful rest stop known as Buc-ees.

Let me tell you about Buc-ees. It is the shit. It's a giant gas station/convenience store that has everything you've ever wanted. Fresh sandwiches, homemade candies, any snack you could think of, Dr. Pepper slushies, no wait in line, Bucees t shirts, and the absolute best thing? THE CLEANEST BATHROOMS YOU WILL EVER SEE IN YOUR ENTIRE LIFE! There are purell stations in every stall, and an attendant in the bathroom to clean everytime someone uses it. So amazing. If one more Oklahoman tells me that Quik Trip is better, I will kill you. I've seen their bathrooms and they are disgusting. Don't ever tell me Quik Trip is better, because you don't even know.

So after this wonderful trip, I end up in much cooler thank God Dallas with one of my college friends, Erin who recently moved from St. Louis into her cute new apartment, and fancy new job. It was so good to see her, and so glad she's living somewhat close to me again. So we just hung around her place and caught up on eachother's lives when my other college friend, Erika drove down with some vino in her hand (that girl knows my soul). So we were all laughing, chatting, and reminiscing, when Erika said she had to go since she lives kind of far, and she had work the next morning, so she left and Erin and I passed out. The next morning we woke up and decided that we needed a Starbucks run, then left because she was leaving for New York the next day and I had to get all pretty for that night.

So I had a noon hair appointment with Ulta by Park Lane. And my stupid Garmin takes me the opposite way by Love Field. So I had to reschedule for 2pm and decide to go over there and do some shopping. I got lots of cute things at Old Navy (they got some good stuff ya'll! Not to mention they have BSB, sexy Kevin included, singing in their commercial!) Then I was in need of some Nike shorts so I went and got those too. Then by that time, it was 2 pm so I went to get my hair did! I was a little concerned. My stylist was good but she wasn't confident in her ability, which you never want to experience when you're getting your hair done. I was stressed out. I wanted a French Twist and she was flat out, "I don't know how to do that," so I just told her to do whatever updo she could do. I think she was a bit awkward in general, I'm sure she was recently hired. It ended up looking decent (a little flat), but it was fine. Plus I got a discount which was awesome. So after that I drove straight to Fort Worth towards the Omni Hotel, which was super nice. I went up to our room got dolled up, and Kelly, Jamie, and Kristina arrived later. We all went to the ballroom where we were given our assignments. Jamie and Kelly were in charge of pinning corsages and Kristina and I were in charge of the wine pull, since we had no idea how to pin corsages (we made our moms pin our dates in high school...) I was somewhat thankful I didn't have to do that job since drunk older men telling me I could do whatever I wanted to them didn't sound too appealing. Selling wine is a much better forte for me.

I had such a fun time. We were very busy with the wine, and I just love people watching, so it was perfect. I would love to work for the arts in planning functions and galas for fundraising purposes, so it was fun to see all of them work together, and to work with them as well. It was great insight. After the gala, we were all so tired and extremely hungry so we decided to order some pizza. We called Papa John's but the lady picked up and screamed, "THANK YOU FOR CALLING PAPA JOHNS, WE'RE CLOSED!" Then hung up. So we called Domino's and ate some bomb cheesy bread. So good and it was just what we needed.

The next morning we got breakfast and I got ready to leave to see my big, Leslie. Again my Garmin decided to take me to DFW airport, not her house, but luckily she lived somewhat close by. I got to meet her man, her sweet new cat, and her cute apartment. It was nice to see her. Then after that, I made the treck back to Houston...in the rain.

Hot Mess Express

Well today started out as a great day. I had a dermatologist appointment at 9 am, so I was able to sleep in an hour, take time to get ready, and even had time to give my dog a walk. She is the absolute cutest, especially when she knows she is going on her walk. You just simply say "walk," and her eyes widen as if saying, "Did you just say what I thought you said?" then I repeat "walk" then she jumps around does a little happy dance, runs downstairs to the garage door where her leash is kept, then does a pathetic little whine until her harness and leash are all situated and then we both proceed to run to the door out into the open air. (a little polluted but air nonetheless)

I went to the doctor, which was awesome because it took fifteen minutes, got some breakfast, bought some Antone's for later, then drove to work. Then the problems started.

There was absolutely no parking in my garage. None. Nada. Oh except for that one car that parked right in the middle of the line so no one could fit in unless you were a motorcycle. So I had to park two blocks down the road in the Theater District lot. Oh and at this time it started to rain... So I gathered all my things including my umbrella and trekked to work. I get to work and go change into my work clothes, and by this time I am just rushing to get to my desk. then I notice both of the heels on my feet are blistered and bleeding due to new flats, so I go get band aids, and a co worker comes up and says, "I think you forgot to zipper your skirt." HOW EMBARRASING. That has never happened to me ever. I always make sure I am somewhat put together. Luckily my shirt is really long and covered everything. So finally I am all situated, zipped and bandaged, and hopefully I can jump off this hot mess express quick!

It's Beginning to Feel like Fall...Sorta

Within this past week, it has started to feel like fall. My pumpkin spice lattes are back, football season is here, and the temperature has dropped an impressive five degrees. I love the fall, and am so happy it has gotten to a good start.

Last week was extremely busy. Boyfriend started his first week of teaching, and also coaches in the morning, so he is out of the door at 6am. But that's great because it's inspired me to head to work and work out. Our building has been blessed with a really nice gym, awesome facilities, and a $25 flat fee ( I think I'm most excited about the cost.) So I leave at six with all my crap, do some exercising, and then get ready for work. I realize I'm more energized throughout the day (I don't need coffee, which is nice!), and I just feel better.

Wednesday, I attended a UH informational session about their MBA program, which made me super excited about going back to school. I already started the admissions process, even though the application is due in June. I just have a few papers to write, which I should write instead of this entry... I guess I still procrastinate.

I am so excited about volunteering with the OU Club of Houston in their recruitment efforts! We had an informational meeting about the OU application process which ended with sign up sheets. I am so excited to be at my alma mater, Bellaire High, while representing my other alma mater.

I took my boyfriend out to dinner Friday night, since it was his birthday. We went to our favorite Italian Restaurant, Antica Osteria. As usual, it was absolutely delicious with excellent service. We each had a glass of red wine, shared some bruschetta, he ordered the duck, and I ordered the capelleti. It was awesome.

Saturday, we got up early and did a 5K. Boyfriend finished 7th, and I walked so I didn't finish as early haha. I then went home slept all day, then we went to a bar and watched OU V. FAMU.  We made huge contributions to the Corona and Shocktop comapnies, and split some crazy nachos. What a great day in college football! We kicked ass, like we should, and everyone I wanted to lose, lost. Pretty great day.

And finally a cold front came in Sunday, and I am enjoying this weather as much as I can before it bounces back up. Hope everyone has a great week!
